Psychotherapy is a personal journey of transformation and self-exploration conducted under the guidance of a psychologist. The psychotherapist supports and encourages the transformative process. Trust in the therapist is essential and the therapeutic environment itself should be a safe space in which the journey can unfold. The therapist guides a process of change, in which the client learns to understand patterns of psychological experience in thought, feeling, behaviour and health.
