Pronounced ‘ah-yer-vey-duh’, Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It was developed in India thousands of years ago and is based on the belief that your health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between your mind, body, and spirit. Every person is made up of elements found in the universe and these come together in the human body to form three life-forces or energies, called doshas. Good health is believed to result from the three forces or doshas being in harmony. Your Ayurvedic healer will use a wide variety of remedies to restore your dosha balance; from conventional surgery to massage, dietary changes, exercise, yoga, meditation, massage, sweat baths, enemas, fragrant oils and sound. TIP: You’ll be talking a lot about your health history in the first couple of sessions. Brush up on your family’s history of health so you’re fully prepared in the session.
